Fall Protection
Safety harness can help companies meet new OSHA standards
Jun 20, 2011The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently announced it will "phase in" new enforcement rules regarding fall protection regulations on residential construction sites.
According to the International Business Times, the agency started enforcing the new standards on June 16, 2011. It will gradually implement the regulations through September 15, 2011. This will give contractors and inspectors time to adjust to the new regulatory environment.
Employers who wish to ensure better fall protection at their job sites should purchase NS's full body harness and lanyard combo, which complies with OSHA and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) regulations.
The harness includes a sliding back D-ring, lanyard keeper, and back side web torso strap. The 6-foot long lanyard is equipped with a shock absorber and tubular webbing. The universal size of NS's full-body harness fits most individuals.
In addition, the harness' stress-inducing safety tabs let the wearer know when the harness has been involved in a fall and should be removed from service.
NS's safety harness could save lives. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that falls are the most common cause of workplace deaths in the construction industry.
