OSHA to hold meeting for Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will hold a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) May 8-11, 2012 in Washington, DC.

The ACCSH advises the Secretary of Labor and Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health on standards and policies within the construction industry.

At the meeting, Assistant Secretary Dr. David Michaels will speak, and participants will discuss the Standards Improvement Project (SIP) IV rulemaking. The Directorates of Construction, Cooperative and State Programs, and Standards and Guidance will provide updates on the industry, a presentation will be given on OSHA surveillance and targeting in the construction sector, and a presentation on the ANSI-ASSE A10.33 - Safety and Health Program Requirements for Multi-Employer Projects will be given.

Select work groups will also discuss construction site health hazards, emerging issues and ways to prevent them through design.

Protect workers from hazards such as falls, unguarded machinery, and struck by accidents by providing OSHA-required safety products, including fall protection, hard hats, work gloves, and safety glasses.
