The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) announced on April 26, 2012, that 29 candidates completed the Qualified Safety Sales Professional (QSSP) course on April 16-20 in Durham, North Carolina.
The course put the candidates through a rigorous week of training in technical and regulatory fundamentals for occupational safety and health. The 29 new QSSPs add to the more than 1,000 safety equipment manufacturing and distributor personnel that have gained the designation since it first started in 1996. The program was originally sponsored by both ISEA and the Safety Equipment Distributors Association (SEDA), but is now completely in the hands of ISEA.
The program strives to train marketing and sales professionals in the safety products industry to become a reliable source of information to customers by learning about the principles and practices of workplace health and safety. The course teaches about industry hygiene basics, risk management, safety engineering, workers' comp, and health and safety regulations.
During training, students review a wide range of safety equipment, and learn how to implement these safety products, such as hard hats, work gloves, and safety glasses, into their customers' operations to create a safe working environment.
