At this year's AIHce annual conference co-sponsored by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA®) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH®), participants will have the opportunity to attend a wide variety of informational sessions which will focus on the most pressing health and safety issues of today's workplaces.
During the event, Dr. David Michaels, Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Dr. John Howard, Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) will be featured speakers. After each of their presentations, Dr. Michales and Dr. John Howard will answer questions from the audience.
The event is set to take place June 16-21, 2012, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and will host a variety of sessions that deal specifically with occupational work hazards. Speakers will discuss biological monitoring, confined spaces, hearing protection, engineering controls, electrical safety, chemicals, and other topics.
According to OSHA, industrial hygienists need to be familiar with health risks employees can be exposed to in the workplace. Risks can include air contaminants and biological and physical hazards. Protect workers from these dangers by providing appropriate safety products, such as ear plugs, respiratory protection and safety glasses.
