Online tool allows easy access to Environmental Impact Statements
The public can now access Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) online, thanks to a new interactive mapping tool developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Users can simply click a state to view available EISs, which outline information on each project’s potential to impact the environment, the economy, and society.
When making decisions about proposed actions that could significantly impact the community, Federal agencies are required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to include an analysis of the potential impact and reasonable alternatives.
“This interactive tool makes it easier for the public to be informed about the environment around them,” explained Cynthia Giles, assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. “Major projects and decisions have the potential to affect the environment where you work and live. I encourage everyone to check out the tool, stay informed and lend your voice.”
Safeguard workers in the construction, renewable energy development, highway, and other industries involved in projects that affect communities and the environment. Reduce occupational injuries at job sites by providing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and fall protection.
