NIOSH Presents Business Traveler and International Work Safety Resource

Traveling abroad can present unique concerns and risks along with liability and logistic challenges. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has released the Small Business International Travel Resource to provide essential information and helpful tools for both workers and employers to better handle travel concerns.

This resource was designed to aid in all three stages of travel: pre-travel, on-travel, and post-travel. It encourages thorough advance planning and takes into consideration traveler safety and health needs at all times. “Because many small businesses lack human resource staff to plan international work travel needs, the responsibility often falls on owners and managers. This new international travel resource provides the necessary tools to anticipate and plan for safe and healthy travel abroad,” said John Howard, M.D., NIOSH director.

Tools include:

  • Travel health assessment
  • Packing list
  • Location health and safety plan
  • Contact and emergency information forms
  • Incident reports
  • International work travel resource directory
