The sideshields are protected with a thin film of green plastic on one side and a clear film on the other side. It's unnecessary, since each individual lens is packaged in a plastic sleeve. It's annoying to have to "peel" the sideshields before wearing them, not to mention the plastic waste and the mess from employees dropping the film on the floor. Otherwise, they are of good quality.
