ASSE prepares for Occupational Safety and Health Professional Day

To celebrate the hard work of occupational safety, health, and environment professionals, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is promoting Occupational Safety and Health Professional (OSHP) Day, which will be held on May 9, 2012.

The day was first established in 2006 to give safety professionals due credit for helping to keep workers safe every day. The recognition will be a part of North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week, which will take place May 6-12.

"On this day we encourage employers, co-workers, and the general public to say "thank you" to those who spend work around the clock making sure that every day spent on the job is a safe one," ASSE stated.

ASSE is urging people around the country to get involved during the week by focusing on the importance of preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace.

Continue to ensure safety throughout the year by providing appropriate safety products, such as fall protection and safety glasses, to lower workers' risk of injury or death.
