Fire Prevention Week 2021: Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!

The National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) is celebrating Fire Prevention Week from October 3-9, with the theme of Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!™. The NFPA wants to remind everyone that the sounds made by carbon monoxide (CO) and smoke detectors require action.
Smoke alarms:
- Continuous set of 3 loud beeps means smoke or fire!
- Single chirp every 30 or 60 seconds indicates low battery.
- Single chirping that continues after battery has been replaced means that the alarm is at the end of its service life.
CO alarms:
- Continuous set of 4 loud beeps means carbon monoxide is present!
- Single chirp every 30 or 60 seconds indicates low battery.
- Alarms also have end-of-service-life beeps. Please check your manufacturer instructions.
- Chirping that continues after battery has been replaced means that the alarm is at the end of its service life.
National Fire Prevention Week has been a national observance since 1925.
